A bowl of winter goodness is what I’d call
it #foodmood Do you also have those sweet cravings crawling in like me in this weather? Well this is an all time favourite snack to make that is a little sweet, nutty, crunchy and hearty oh boyyy what else could I ask for, such a treat 🤩 The feels of caramelised Makhana and the flavours of jaggery, sesame, ajwain, nuts add all the more yumminess 🥳

What’s cooking? Jaggery Makhana, the combination of jaggery and sesame seeds is an epic one and this weather totally makes me crave for it 🤤Love having a jar of this treat in stock, so many Makhana versions to play around with – sweet and salty both 🤩 A super easy treat to make, works well for snacking and dessert as well! Voila two in one 😍

Ingredients
3 cups makhana (fox nuts)
1/3 cup chopped jaggery
1 tsp ghee/oil
2 tbsp water
1 tsp sesame seeds
1 tsp ajwain (carom seeds)
1/2 cup roasted peanuts

.
In a pan, add 1 tsp ghee and roast makhana on medium heat until they turn crunchy – about 7-8 minutes. Transfer to a plate. In a pan, on medium heat – add chopped jaggery along with water, let it heat until it melts, keep stirring to make sure it doesn’t get burnt – about 5 mins. Once jaggery syrup begins to thicken add sesame seeds, ajwain, roasted Makhana and quickly combine until well coated – it’ll be a little wet and sticky at this stage. Turn off heat, add roasted peanuts and combine with Makhana, let it cool down and it won’t be sticky at all at this stage. Store in an air tight container, lasts well upto 2 weeks.
